Nissan TITAN XT Breaks the Light Duty SnowPlow Barrier

Plow More Snow in Less Time with a TITAN XD!

This Titan was spotted on a Nissan dealers lot in Maine. I stopped to check out the 8 foot Fisher SnowPlow blade on this pickup.

This is the first pickup in its class that will support the use of a Heavy Duty SnowPlow blade. Further research shows that this Titan XD with the 4900 Lb front end rating could accept a heavy Duty snowplow up to 9 feet in length.  Boss SnowPlows will allow up to a 9.2 FT V-Blade on this pickup chassis

This is very significant, many of the other "domestic" pickups in this class will only allow a 7 1/2 foot plow because of their lower vehicle front weight ratings. This Titan will plow more snow in less time than competitive products

Note that the Nissan Titan is manufactured in the USA in Mississippi.

What Spreader is Right for the Job?

No two ice removal jobs are the same, and that is why we offer multiple options to meet your specific needs. With a variety of features to back you up in your ice control efforts, confusion may arise regarding which BOSS spreader is right for you. Below is a description of the similarities and key differences between the FORGE and VBX spreaders to assist you in your decision!

BO16_3495s_Boss_Dhein_7226-1.jpg

Hopper Capacity: The VBX line offers multiple hopper capacity options to fit your needs – 1.5, 2, and 3 cubic yard capacity

Enclosed Spinner Motor: With a ¾ horsepower stainless steel spinner motor, the VBX gives you all the power you need without the maintenance of a gas-powered feed system. Also, the spinner motor is weather and dust sealed to ensure performance, durability, and reliability.

Hopper Material: The double-walled Polyethylene hopper provides a spreader that is durable, corrosion resistant, and low maintenance.

Standard Tarp: The VBX comes standard with a tarp to protect your de-icing materials from snow and moisture on the job.

LCD Screen In-Cab Controller: To make your life even easier, BOSS has equipped the VBX with an in-cab LCD display controller that allows you to manage spreader functions at the touch of a button. The LCD screen is backlit for clear visibility and ease of use.

LED Work Lights: BOSS knows that many ice removable jobs take place after normal hours, so LED work lights are a standard feature that illuminate the spreader at night.

Spinner Assembly: In addition to the swing-out feature on the spinner assembly – which makes for an easy removal of excess material – the VBX allows for further spinner customization. Users can easily adjust the height of the spinner to set their desired spreading range.

Additional Accessories:
Pre-Wet Ready: New VBX purchases come standard as Pre-Wet ready spreaders. Learn more about adding a Pre-Wet System to your spreader HERE.

Pro-Lid: VBX spreaders now have the option of adding a weather-sealed, poly-hard cover to protect deicing materials. Pro-Lid retrofits to existing VBX models and is available on the VBX6500, VBX8000, and VBX9000. Learn more about adding the Pro-Lid to your VBX HERE.

FORGE 2.0
DSC00280.jpg

Hopper Capacity: The FORGE 2.0 spreader is only available in one size – 2 cubic yard capacity with a minimum bed length required of 6’6.”

Enclosed Spinner Motor: The FORGE is equipped with a ½ horsepower drive motor. Like the VBX spinner motor, the FORGE motor is weather and dust sealed to ensure durability, performance, and reliability.

Hopper Material: Using heavy gauge stainless steel, the Forge provides a strong body that is less susceptible to damage and better prepared to take on the winter elements.
In-Cab Controller: The Forge features a high value in-cab controller that is backlit for clear visibility and ease of use.

Spinner Assembly: The FORGE also provides a swing out spinner assembly to allow for the emptying of old materials.

Additional Accessories
Customizable Features: BOSS allows you to customize features to fit your needs. Optional accessories include the Forge light kit, tarp, vibrator, and inverted V (pintle).

Pre-Wet Capable: The FORGE is pre-wet capable if desired. In order to add the Pre-Wet System, a Pre-Wet capable controller is required. To learn more, visit bossplow.com

Similarities
Though the VBX and FORGE 2.0 spreaders each contain unique features, BOSS has equipped both spreaders with similar features that are necessary to battle the winter elements.

Tie Down Kit: Both spreaders come standard with a tie down kit that keeps your spreader safe and secure in the bed of your truck.

Standard Top Screen: The VBX and FORGE both come standard with a top screen that prevents any large clumps of material from entering the spreader.

Dump Switch: After your ice removal job is completed, the VBX and FORGE both feature a dump switch that empties excess material effortlessly.

Inverted V Auger System: The inverted V auger system comes standard on both spreaders, and is optional on the pintle chain system. Only the auger feed system comes standard with a vibrator to assist in material movement, as the pintle feed design rarely requires this feature.

As with any purchase, taking the time to understand each product will help you select the spreader that best suits your needs. Contact your local dealer today for further questions and inquiries.

Quick Guide To Industry Acronyms

 Quick Guide To Industry Acronyms

Understanding the many industry acronyms and terms can be overwhelming. This quick guide can get you up to speed on some of the most important terms and meanings.

GVW – Gross Vehicle Weight
This is the total weight of the truck, including all passengers, drivers, cargo, accessories, fuel, and fluid in the engine at any point in time. It is important that this measurement does not go over the GVWR, or it can be a safety hazard.

GVWR – Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
This is the maximum total vehicle weight that is safe for the truck, established by the chassis manufacturer. The weight of the truck, any cargo, and passengers including the driver, as well as any fuel and fluid in the engine is included in the rating. Chassis manufacturers will most often set the GVWR lower than the combined axle ratings (the total amount of weight an individual axle can carry). This is due to the chassis manufacturer’s internal safety standards for durability, stability, and handling, as well as SAE International test protocols.

GCWR – Gross Combined Weight Rating
Everything that moves with the vehicle is included in the GCWR. The weight of the truck, any cargo, passengers including the driver, any fluid or fuel in the truck, as well as the weight of the trailer and the trailer’s cargo is included. Exceeding the GCWR can cause a safety hazard.

Payload
The cargo carrying capacity of a vehicle is the payload. It is calculated by subtracting the vehicles’ weight including passengers and the driver from the GVWR. Exceeding the Payload capacity can cause damage to your suspension, chassis, frame, tires, and many other parts of the truck.

CA – Cab to Axle
The cab-to-axle measurement is the distance from the back of the truck cab to the center of the rear axle. Clear CA or effective CA is the distance from the rear surface of any obstruction behind the cab to the center of the rear axle. If you have a tandem axle truck, then it is measured to the midpoint between the two rear axles. This measurement can help you determine the length of the body that can be mounted on the chassis.

Wheelbase
The wheelbase is the distance between the centers of the front and rear axles. When the truck has more than two axels, it is the distance between the steering axle and the center point of the driving axle group. This can affect body installation, weight distribution, and truck performance.

SRW – Single Rear Wheel
A single rear wheel refers to a chassis that has one wheel on each side of the rear axle. Single Rear wheels make for smoother driving without cargo, as well as easier driving in cities, suburbs, and highways. These trucks are more affordable to purchase outright, and have better fuel economy. A single rear wheel has less towing capability than a dual rear wheel, and less stability when towing in windy conditions.

DRW – Dual Rear Wheel
A dual rear wheel refers to a chassis that has two wheels on each side of the rear axle. This feature is a must if you are towing large payloads, or driving through rough terrain. It adds stability to your truck which increases safety for your divers and cargo. Having a dual rear wheel will allow the driver to safely get off the road in the case of a tire blowing out. Trucks with a dual rear wheel can be difficult to maneuver in cities, where parking and tight streets can be challenging. This feature can also reduce the truck’s mpg, especially in cities, and increase maintenance costs, because there are at least two extra tires to replace or rotate.

CDL – Commercial Driver’s License
The vehicle’s GVWR is one of the factors that will effect whether the diver needs a CDL. If the truck has a GVWR, and GVW of 26,000 lbs. or lower, the driver does not need a CDL.

Class A
A Class A license is required to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 lbs. or more. This includes towing a trailer weighing over 10,000 lbs. which makes the vehicle and trailer rating over 26,001 lbs.

Class B
A Class B license is required to operate a single vehicle with a GVWR or 26,001 lbs. or more, and/or a vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or heavier that is towing another vehicle weighting up to 10,000 lbs.

Class C
A Class C license is required if the vehicle you intend to drive does not meet the criteria for either Class A or B and it is meant to transport either: 16 or more passengers including the driver or hazardous material.

  • Only available High Roof model in segment1 with rugged body-on-frame construction
  • All NV Cargo models come with America's Best Commercial Van Warranty2 – featuring bumper-to-bumper limited warranty coverage of 5 years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first
The 2019 Nissan NV Cargo Van provides exceptional utility thanks to a long, wide cargo floor, square-top wheelwell housings and nearly vertical sidewalls – room to fit two 40x48-inch pallets, 10-foot piping or 4x8-foot drywall sheets. Along with maximizing cargo space, the sidewalls accommodate aftermarket storage systems without excessive modification. The Nissan NV Cargo provides rugged body-on-frame construction across the entire lineup, including with a High Roof, which provides most users the ability to walk, stand and work in the cargo area.

For the 2019 model year, all NV Cargo grades come equipped with standard 7.0-inch display audio AM/FM with AUX, USB, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®, Bluetooth® with voice recognition and USB connection port for iPod® interface and other compatible devices. In addition, the Backdoor Glass Package availability has been expanded to include S and SV V8 model configurations.

As in previous years, the 2019 NV Cargo Van provides exceptional utility thanks to a long, wide cargo floor, square-top wheelwell housings and nearly vertical sidewalls – room enough to fit two 40x48-inch pallets, 10-foot piping or 4x8-foot drywall sheets. Along with maximizing cargo space, the sidewalls accommodate aftermarket storage systems without excessive modification.

Available technology includes NissanConnect® with Navigation and Mobile Apps. The system features a 5.8-inch color touch screen display, Nissan Voice Recognition for audio and navigation, SiriusXM® Traffic and SiriusXM® Travel Link™ (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately).

All NV Cargo models come with America's Best Commercial Van Warranty2 – featuring bumper-to-bumper limited warranty coverage of 5 years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Nissan's Light Commercial Vehicle warranty was inspired in part by the stories of Nissan Commercial Vehicles experiencing remarkable longevity under real-world work circumstances with businesses. The limited warranty reaffirms Nissan's confidence in the quality of its commercial vehicles, as some of the NV 2500 and 3500 models have already accrued 550,000-plus miles of real-world use.

Comfortable Seating and Standing
One of the overarching goals for the NV Cargo design was to combine pickup truck-like comfort, interior amenities and drivability with a cargo van's capacity and security. The Nissan NV Cargo interior answers one of the major unmet operator needs – driver comfort and roominess. The wide front doors provide easy ingress and egress, while supportive bucket seating with extensive adjustability, large armrests and a truck-like driving position with ample legroom and foot room enhance comfort.

The available center console (removable) provides a range of integrated storage features, while the fold-down passenger seat adds worktable functionality and enhances the cab's feeling of openness.
Another major contributor to the pickup-like cab is the absence of the traditional van engine "doghouse" that intrudes into the cab due to the setback engine placement. The Nissan NV Cargo utilizes a conventional truck engine layout with out-front engine design. This not only frees up space under the instrument panel and between the seats, it also provides easy under-hood access to the entire engine for routine service and maintenance.

The NV Cargo's ample cargo area offers a 120.0-inch cargo floor length and 70.2-inch maximum cargo floor width. NV Cargo Standard Roof models offer a maximum 55.8 cargo area height, among the tallest in class.

The NV Cargo High Roof provides a maximum 76.9-inch cargo room height – enough for most users to move about the cargo area while standing up straight. The NV Cargo is the only available High Roof model in the segment1 with rugged body-on-frame construction.

Standard Roof NV Cargo models are designed to fit in most garages or go through most car washes and fast food drive-through lanes, along with offering easier reach to access roof racks. Many businesses, however, require the added cargo capacity and the ability to stand up and work inside – which the High Roof NV Cargo delivers, enhancing everyday operations and productivity.

Smart Functionality and Flexible Layout
Inspired by customer needs and usage, the Nissan NV Cargo offers an array of smart functionality features, including storage pockets, spaces and compartments designed to provide secure access to the typical commercial customers' everyday use objects.

High Roof models offer an available overhead console designed to hold work gloves, legal size binders, safety glasses and system books. The available lockable center console (removable) fits hanging files and laptop computers and includes a computer or mobile phone charging point, as well as a lid that slides forward to provide a more usable work surface. The available storage drawer under the driver's seat is ideal for storing paperwork, tools or other items that require quick access.

Since commercial vans must serve many functions – including acting as an office on the road or at a job site – storage and productivity items are integral to the design, rather than tacked-on afterthoughts. The result is a clean, practical and comfortable workspace for a wide variety of professions and businesses.

Along with being conceived as a "mobile office," the Nissan NV Cargo is designed to function as a "mobile workshop" with exceptional utility – thanks to its wide door openings and simple, flexible cargo area layout with a long, wide cargo floor, square-top wheel well housings and nearly vertical sidewalls. The NV Cargo offers room between the wheelhouses to accommodate standard plywood or drywall sheets or pallets. A range of cargo area tie-down rings, along with ample cargo area lighting, further enhances the NV Cargo's utility.

Along with maximizing cargo space, the NV Cargo is designed to accommodate aftermarket customization and modifications with 57 interior reinforced integrated attachment points for installation of cargo customization equipment – requiring no sheet metal drilling. The nearly vertical sidewalls accommodate aftermarket storage systems without excessive modification.

The cargo area also features a full-length inner panel to help prevent cargo from denting the vehicle's outer skin (SV models). The roof attachment points are designed to accommodate installation of various ladder or utility rack systems without piercing holes in the roof, which can lead to corrosion and water leaks.

The cargo area also features standard "upfitter pre-wiring" for easy access into the electrical system, wide-coverage cargo area lighting and available power outlets including available 3-prong 120V outlet in center console and D-pillar locations.

A Workhorse Foundation
Cost of ownership and operation is another critical factor in the CV segment, whether for major fleet operations or individual business owners. The 2019 Nissan NV Cargo is offered in a choice of two dependable engines, starting with a 261-horsepower DOHC 24-valve 4.0-liter V6 with 281 lb-ft of torque. The engine includes Nissan's Continuous Valve Timing Control (C-VTC) for improved efficiency and is matched with a refined, heavy-duty 5-speed automatic transmission.

The advanced 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 gasoline engine features best-in-class3 375 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque. Assembled in Decherd, Tenn., it is matched with a heavy-duty 7-speed automatic transmission. The Endurance® V8 engine features four-valves per cylinder, Variable Valve Event & Lift, and Direct Injection. Throttle response is enhanced by directly controlling the intake valve, rather than using the traditional method of controlling intake with a throttle valve, and valve timing and opening with non-variable camshafts.

The Endurance® V8 engine also features Direct Injection Gas (DIG™) technology, which provides better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system) by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offering precise injection control. An 11.2:1 compression ratio aids overall engine efficiency and performance and a Multi Control Valve (MCV) assists in managing the engine's thermal efficiency better than a traditional thermostat. The engine is also utilized in the NV Passenger Van, TITAN,

TITAN XD and Armada models. NV Cargo models equipped with the Endurance® V8 engine are outfitted with a 7-speed automatic, which features Adaptive Shift Control and Downshift Rev Matching.

Other standard NV Cargo equipment includes heavy-duty 4-wheel disc brakes with 14.1-inch front/14.3-inch rear rotors and 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), engine-speed-sensitive hydraulic re-circulating ball steering system, independent front suspension with stabilizer bar, solid rear axle with leaf springs and stabilizer bar, 17-inch steel wheels and LT245/70R17 all-season tires (LT245/75R17 for 3500-series vans).

Safety systems include dual-stage supplemental front air bags, supplemental front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, roof-mounted curtain side-impact air bags with rollover sensor for front outboard occupant head protection and 3-point front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters. Also standard is a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC).

Three Well-Equipped Models
The 2019 Nissan NV Cargo is offered in three well-equipped models – the V6-equipped NV1500; the NV2500 HD, which is offered with V6 and V8 engines; and the NV3500 HD with a standard V8 engine. All three models are available with the Standard Roof, while the High Roof body is offered in the NV2500 HD and NV3500 HD models only.

Three grade levels are available – S, SV and SL. The SV grade includes a long list of standard features, such as two additional audio speakers (four total), rear cargo mat, center console with sliding table and lockable storage (2500/3500 series only), rear sonar, 17-inch styled steel wheels and more.

The SL grade features chrome bumpers and grille, chrome-clad wheels, heated outside mirrors, 8-way power driver's seat and Vehicle Security System.

Three option packages are offered, including the Navigation Package, featuring SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately) and NissanConnect with Navigation and Mobile Apps with 5.8-inch touch screen; the Back Door Glass Package (all grades); and Vinyl Seat Package (S grade only) with vinyl seat upholstery.

The Nissan NV Cargo is assembled by Nissan North America in Canton, Mississippi. It is available through a select network of authorized Nissan Commercial Vehicle dealers nationwide. For more information, please go to nissancommercialvehicles.com.

The Nissan NV is also available in a 4-row/12-passenger van version. For information on the 2019 NV Passenger Van and NV Cargo Van, please visit NissanNews.com.
