DALLAS – With the Texas sun shining and deep fryers frying, Nissan returned to the heart of truck country – the annual State Fair of Texas – today to reveal the 2019 TITAN, the most refined TITAN yet. Following a rockin' performance from Fender® artist Eric Johnson, the new pickup was introduced by Fred DePerez, vice president, North American LCV Business Unit, Nissan North America, to a group of the nation's top truck, auto and lifestyle media a day before doors open to an anticipated 2.5+ million fair-goers.

On sale this fall, the 2019 TITAN and TITAN XD will be on display through October 21 at the historic Fair Park in Dallas.

"The 2019 TITAN will be our most refined truck yet," said DePerez. "Backed by America's Best Truck Warranty2 – featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles – the 2019 TITAN and TITAN XD will build upon today's strength and capabilities by adding advanced technology, new safety features and an awesome new audio system to provide the soundtrack for all the amazing adventures ahead of you."

In addition to the 2019 TITAN and TITAN XD unveilings, DePerez provided media with a look at the first official TV spot in the purpose-driven Calling All TITANs marketing campaign. Nissan and partners American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and National Park Foundation first announced the campaign on Sept. 5 and will set another milestone when the spot airs tonight during the North Carolina vs. Miami college football game on ESPN.

Renowned producer and director Shawn Levy, known most recently for his work in the hit series Stranger Things, and second unit director Stephen Campanelli, directed the commercial.
"At Nissan we believe America needs more TITANs, so today we are celebrating the TITANs of the Community, TITANs of the Neighborhood and TITANs of the Outdoors with the launch of the first TV spot of our purpose-driven Calling All TITANs campaign," added DePerez. "The commercial, led by the outstanding directors Shawn Levy and Stephen Campanelli, highlights the inspirational work of the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and the National Park Foundation – three national organizations we are proud to call partners."

2018 Nissan Titan XD: What's Changed

2018_Nissan_TITAN_XD_Photo_5 II
  • Most significant changes: No significant changes for 2018
  • Price change: All Titan XDs increase by $700; most option packages see a $25 to $45 increase and destination stays the same at $1,295
  • On sale: Now
  • Which should you buy, a 2017 or 2018? The 2017; incentives have been available on leftover models, but they won't last long
Introduced in 2016 in crew-cab flavor as a new lighter-duty three-quarter-ton option with an all-new 5.0-liter V-8 Cummins diesel, the Nissan Titan XD lineup expanded in 2017 to offer both single (regular) and King (extended) cab models along with a 5.6-liter gasoline V-8 option. There are no significant changes for 2018 except the addition of a Midnight Edition black trim package. Trims levels for the Titan XD include S, SV, Pro-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve. The Midnight Edition is available for SV and SL crew-cab diesel 4x4 models.

The available 5.0-liter diesel V-8 is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, while the 5.6-liter gas V-8 has a seven-speed automatic, the only one it its class. Both engine options can be had in rear-wheel and four-wheel-drive drivelines.

Titan XD Single and King cabs are similar in size to their Titan half-ton counterparts, but they have larger/stronger heavy-duty underpinnings that offer higher payload and towing capacities across the lineup. Single cabs get an 8-foot bed while King Cabs come with a 6-foot-6-inch bed. Titan XD crew cabs have a longer wheelbase and overall length than the half-ton models and have a 6-foot-6-inch bed.

As something of an "in-betweener," the Titan XD competes with both full-size half-ton and three-quarter-ton pickups. Nissan's intent with the Titan XD was to offer something similar to a traditional light-duty (half-ton) pickup with towing and hauling capabilities approaching those of a three-quarter-ton model, but without the traditional rough-riding road dynamics.

Nissan Holds the Line on 2019 Frontier Pricing

 2019 Nissan Frontier_1

The most affordable pickup truck on sale today will soldier on for 2019 with the same pricing it had in 2018, according to Nissan. The 2019 Frontier mid-size pickup, currently on sale at dealerships nationwide, will be priced from $19,985 including destination fees. While holding the line on price, Nissan added content for 2019: a standard 7-inch color touchscreen on the S and SV trim levels, for one thing. The popular Cayenne Red paint also will be available on more models.

Nissan will continue offering the popular Midnight Edition Package, which includes a gloss-black grille; 18-inch gloss-black wheels; semigloss black step rails; black badging, mirrors and handles; and body-color bumpers. The Midnight Edition is available only on the automatic-transmission SV crew cab in 4x2 or 4x4 configurations with a choice of three colors: Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic or Glacier White.

The rest of the Frontier lineup carries over unchanged, and why not? Nissan still sells plenty of the aging Frontier, which is due for a redesign — we've seen spy photos but not much else so far. The Nissan Frontier is pretty much the only original-sized small pickup on the market now that the Toyota Tacoma and GM's Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon have grown.

As before, the Frontier will come in 4x2 or 4x4 configurations, in either King-Cab or crew-cab styles. Two powertrains will also carry over: the 152-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (only available in the King Cab) or the 261-hp, 4.0-liter V-6. As before, five trims will be offered: S, SV, Pro-4X, Desert Runner and SL.

Sortimo = SORTING & MOBILITY

https://www.sortimo.us/files/source/pages/brand-center/media-resources/clean-dirty-images/New_Ford_E-Series_Clean_Dirty_(2)_w_divider_line.jpg

All vehicle organization systems by nature offer the user some level of organization.Even a basic three shelf system offers more organization than no shelving at all. The density of organization and storage of a Sortimo By Knapheide system makes it the premier organization system in the market today. Keeping your parts and tools organized means less time spent looking for items and the ability to easily inventory them on the vehicle.  Having the right parts and tools, and being able to find them when you want them, results in improved worker efficiency.

Other vehicle organization systems offer limited mobility. This is where the Sortimo ByKnapheide system is unique to the market.

Mobility is made possible through the use of BOXXes.

Sortimo by Knapheide has many different types and sizes of BOXXes to meet your
organization needs. BOXXes are secured intotracks on the shelves that hold them in place
when the vehicle is in motion. Having the ability to remove the BOXXes from the vehicle and take them with you to the vehicle and out.

Which BOSS Spreader is right for you?

No two ice removal jobs are the same, and that is why we offer multiple options to meet your specific needs. With a variety of features to back you up in your ice control efforts, confusion may arise regarding which BOSS spreader is right for you. Below is a description of the similarities and key differences between the FORGE and VBX spreaders to assist you in your decision!

BO16_3495s_Boss_Dhein_7226-1.jpg

Hopper Capacity: The VBX line offers multiple hopper capacity options to fit your needs – 1.5, 2, and 3 cubic yard capacity

Enclosed Spinner Motor: With a ¾ horsepower stainless steel spinner motor, the VBX gives you all the power you need without the maintenance of a gas-powered feed system. Also, the spinner motor is weather and dust sealed to ensure performance, durability, and reliability.

Hopper Material: The double-walled Polyethylene hopper provides a spreader that is durable, corrosion resistant, and low maintenance.

Standard Tarp: The VBX comes standard with a tarp to protect your de-icing materials from snow and moisture on the job.

LCD Screen In-Cab Controller: To make your life even easier, BOSS has equipped the VBX with an in-cab LCD display controller that allows you to manage spreader functions at the touch of a button. The LCD screen is backlit for clear visibility and ease of use.

LED Work Lights: BOSS knows that many ice removable jobs take place after normal hours, so LED work lights are a standard feature that illuminate the spreader at night.

Spinner Assembly: In addition to the swing-out feature on the spinner assembly – which makes for an easy removal of excess material – the VBX allows for further spinner customization. Users can easily adjust the height of the spinner to set their desired spreading range.

Additional Accessories:
Pre-Wet Ready: New VBX purchases come standard as Pre-Wet ready spreaders. Learn more about adding a Pre-Wet System to your spreader HERE.

Pro-Lid: VBX spreaders now have the option of adding a weather-sealed, poly-hard cover to protect deicing materials. Pro-Lid retrofits to existing VBX models and is available on the VBX6500, VBX8000, and VBX9000. Learn more about adding the Pro-Lid to your VBX HERE.

FORGE 2.0
DSC00280.jpg

Hopper Capacity: The FORGE 2.0 spreader is only available in one size – 2 cubic yard capacity with a minimum bed length required of 6’6.”

Enclosed Spinner Motor: The FORGE is equipped with a ½ horsepower drive motor. Like the VBX spinner motor, the FORGE motor is weather and dust sealed to ensure durability, performance, and reliability.

Hopper Material: Using heavy gauge stainless steel, the Forge provides a strong body that is less susceptible to damage and better prepared to take on the winter elements.
In-Cab Controller: The Forge features a high value in-cab controller that is backlit for clear visibility and ease of use.

Spinner Assembly: The FORGE also provides a swing out spinner assembly to allow for the emptying of old materials.

Additional Accessories
Customizable Features: BOSS allows you to customize features to fit your needs. Optional accessories include the Forge light kit, tarp, vibrator, and inverted V (pintle).

Pre-Wet Capable: The FORGE is pre-wet capable if desired. In order to add the Pre-Wet System, a Pre-Wet capable controller is required. To learn more, visit bossplow.com

Similarities
Though the VBX and FORGE 2.0 spreaders each contain unique features, BOSS has equipped both spreaders with similar features that are necessary to battle the winter elements.

Tie Down Kit: Both spreaders come standard with a tie down kit that keeps your spreader safe and secure in the bed of your truck.

Standard Top Screen: The VBX and FORGE both come standard with a top screen that prevents any large clumps of material from entering the spreader.

Dump Switch: After your ice removal job is completed, the VBX and FORGE both feature a dump switch that empties excess material effortlessly.

Inverted V Auger System: The inverted V auger system comes standard on both spreaders, and is optional on the pintle chain system. Only the auger feed system comes standard with a vibrator to assist in material movement, as the pintle feed design rarely requires this feature.

As with any purchase, taking the time to understand each product will help you select the spreader that best suits your needs. Contact your local dealer today for further questions and inquiries.

Nissan is Calling All TITANS in new purpose-driven truck campaign

 Nissan is Calling All TITANs

• New integrated marketing campaign seeks to celebrate everyday heroes as TITANs of the Community, TITANs of the Neighborhood and TITANs of the Outdoors
• Campaign developed in response to consumer research that found Nissan TITAN® customers are driven by improving the world around them
 • To kick off the campaign, Nissan has partnered with Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross and the National Park Foundation – three national organizations rooted in serving the neighborhood, community and the outdoors
 • In addition to a $1 million donation to each organization, Nissan will actively promote local volunteer opportunities and ways TITAN enthusiasts can get involved through a new campaign website, CallingAllTITANs.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept 5, 2018) – When is a TITAN more than a truck? Nissan’s new marketing campaign, Calling All TITANs, seeks to celebrate everyday heroes using pickup trucks to improve the world around them. These TITANs of the community, neighborhood and outdoors are driving change from behind the wheel of Nissan TITAN trucks.

“We have seen that TITAN customers are the kind of people who want to get the job done and leave their world better than they found it,” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications and Media, Nissan North America, Inc. ”Be it conservation of the outdoors, contributions to local charities or simple acts of kindness, there is a natural desire among pickup truck owners to take action when help is needed.”

Over three-quarters of Americans1 (78%) believe companies must do more than just make money; they must positively impact society as well. Central to the Calling All TITANs movement is Nissan’s commitment and partnership to three national organizations: Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross and the National Park Foundation. Nissan will donate a total of $1 million to each organization. The donations will be used to support the missions of each nonprofit, helping drive awareness and provide opportunities for Nissan employees, dealers and owners across America to get involved.

“To truly be a Titan, you need a dependable vehicle that can tow, haul and drive through the worst of it. With its rugged capability and Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, the Nissan TITAN is fit to take on any assignment from the heroic to the everyday,” said Fred DePerez, vice president, North America LCV Business Unit, Nissan North America, Inc.

“From the grass roots efforts of our local dealers to the great work being done on a national scale, Calling All TITANS gives us a meaningful way to connect the capabilities of our TITAN truck with our current and future customers – the Titans of our world - answering the call when they see a need,” said Tucker.

Beginning in September, a series of new advertising spots and social media campaigns will highlight the inspirational endeavors of each nonprofit. Additionally, a campaign website, CallingAllTITANs.com, has been created to provide information on how to donate, volunteer and more.

While this marketing campaign is new, giving back to the community is a signature of Nissan’s business model and built into TITAN’s DNA. Every year Nissan’s corporate philanthropy efforts are directed to nonprofits working in education, environmental stewardship and humanitarian relief, enriching people’s lives in the communities where its employees live and work. Habitat for Humanity Nissan began its partnership with Habitat for Humanity in 2005, providing a fleet of first generation Titans to assist in cleanup efforts following the devastation left behind by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. By the end of 2018, Nissan will have helped build 98 houses and donated more than 145 trucks and over $15.5 million to the organization and its mission for affordable housing. The Calling All TITANs campaign will expand the relationship further with more vehicles, donations and opportunities to drive TITANs of the Neighborhood volunteers to help build affordable homes across America.

American Red Cross From disaster relief to employee blood drives, Nissan’s partnership with the American Red Cross has raised more than $2.5 million in donations over the past five years. Kicking off the Calling All TITANs campaign, Nissan will host a social donation drive in support of preparedness month on Thursday, Sept. 20 calling all of the TITANs of the Community. Future activations will help the American Red Cross connect volunteers to blood drives, smoke alarm replacement campaigns and disaster relief efforts.

National Park Foundation There are few things more naturally connected than pickup trucks and the outdoors. TITANs of the Outdoors are passionate about enjoying and conserving our outdoor resources, most notably our national parks. By joining forces with the National Park Foundation, Nissan will support Service Corps that undertake critical trail and park restoration projects. Nissan encourages all Americans to discover the amazing sights, sounds and adventures awaiting them in America’s national parks.

Central to the campaign will be a series of new advertising spots showcasing the charitable partners, social media activities to raise awareness and the website CallingAllTITANs.com where consumers can get more information on how to volunteer.

The 5 Hitch Classes and Their Maximum Load Capacities

With the right towing hitch, you can make your vehicle into a road trip ready, trailer-hauling machine! But in order to choose the right trailer hitch, you must first learn which hitch class matches your towing vehicle. In fact, it is also important to consider a few additional factors that influence the hitch class you will need for your towing purposes. For starters, be sure to refer to your towing vehicle's owners' manual, as well as, the same manual for your trailer. The manual for your towing vehicle will provide its maximum tongue weight (TW) and gross trailer weight (GTW).

TW = Total amount of weight that rests directly on top of the hitch.

GTW= Total mass of your trailer, including hardware and cargo.

Once you have this information, you will have an easier time selecting the proper trailer hitch for your towing needs. You may also contact a local towing and recovery company for professional towing service if you are not comfortable setting up your own rig. For now, continue reading to learn the average towing capacities for all 5 hitch classes.

Hitch Classes

There are a variety of tow hitches available on the market, all of which retain varying features and capacities for different towing applications and trailer types. But all hitches can be categorized into 5 classes, appropriately labeled Class 1 through Class 5. Look below for a guide to their maximum towing capacities. Generally Roman Numerals are used for hitch classes (i.e. Class I, Class II, Class III, Class IV, and Class V), but we have used numbers for easier understanding.

Class 1:

GTW = 2,000 lbs.

TW = 200 lbs.

Class 2:

GTW = 3,500 lbs.

TW = 300 lbs.

Class 3:

GTW = 5,000 lbs.

TW = 350 - 600 lbs.

Class 4:

GTW = 10,000 lbs.

TW = 600 - 1,800 lbs.

Class 5:

GTW = 10,000+ lbs.

Quick Guide To Industry Acronyms

 Quick Guide To Industry Acronyms

Understanding the many industry acronyms and terms can be overwhelming. This quick guide can get you up to speed on some of the most important terms and meanings.

GVW – Gross Vehicle Weight
This is the total weight of the truck, including all passengers, drivers, cargo, accessories, fuel, and fluid in the engine at any point in time. It is important that this measurement does not go over the GVWR, or it can be a safety hazard.

GVWR – Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
This is the maximum total vehicle weight that is safe for the truck, established by the chassis manufacturer. The weight of the truck, any cargo, and passengers including the driver, as well as any fuel and fluid in the engine is included in the rating. Chassis manufacturers will most often set the GVWR lower than the combined axle ratings (the total amount of weight an individual axle can carry). This is due to the chassis manufacturer’s internal safety standards for durability, stability, and handling, as well as SAE International test protocols.

GCWR – Gross Combined Weight Rating
Everything that moves with the vehicle is included in the GCWR. The weight of the truck, any cargo, passengers including the driver, any fluid or fuel in the truck, as well as the weight of the trailer and the trailer’s cargo is included. Exceeding the GCWR can cause a safety hazard.

Payload
The cargo carrying capacity of a vehicle is the payload. It is calculated by subtracting the vehicles’ weight including passengers and the driver from the GVWR. Exceeding the Payload capacity can cause damage to your suspension, chassis, frame, tires, and many other parts of the truck.

CA – Cab to Axle
The cab-to-axle measurement is the distance from the back of the truck cab to the center of the rear axle. Clear CA or effective CA is the distance from the rear surface of any obstruction behind the cab to the center of the rear axle. If you have a tandem axle truck, then it is measured to the midpoint between the two rear axles. This measurement can help you determine the length of the body that can be mounted on the chassis.

Wheelbase
The wheelbase is the distance between the centers of the front and rear axles. When the truck has more than two axels, it is the distance between the steering axle and the center point of the driving axle group. This can affect body installation, weight distribution, and truck performance.

SRW – Single Rear Wheel
A single rear wheel refers to a chassis that has one wheel on each side of the rear axle. Single Rear wheels make for smoother driving without cargo, as well as easier driving in cities, suburbs, and highways. These trucks are more affordable to purchase outright, and have better fuel economy. A single rear wheel has less towing capability than a dual rear wheel, and less stability when towing in windy conditions.

DRW – Dual Rear Wheel
A dual rear wheel refers to a chassis that has two wheels on each side of the rear axle. This feature is a must if you are towing large payloads, or driving through rough terrain. It adds stability to your truck which increases safety for your divers and cargo. Having a dual rear wheel will allow the driver to safely get off the road in the case of a tire blowing out. Trucks with a dual rear wheel can be difficult to maneuver in cities, where parking and tight streets can be challenging. This feature can also reduce the truck’s mpg, especially in cities, and increase maintenance costs, because there are at least two extra tires to replace or rotate.

CDL – Commercial Driver’s License
The vehicle’s GVWR is one of the factors that will effect whether the diver needs a CDL. If the truck has a GVWR, and GVW of 26,000 lbs. or lower, the driver does not need a CDL.

Class A
A Class A license is required to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 lbs. or more. This includes towing a trailer weighing over 10,000 lbs. which makes the vehicle and trailer rating over 26,001 lbs.

Class B
A Class B license is required to operate a single vehicle with a GVWR or 26,001 lbs. or more, and/or a vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or heavier that is towing another vehicle weighting up to 10,000 lbs.

Class C
A Class C license is required if the vehicle you intend to drive does not meet the criteria for either Class A or B and it is meant to transport either: 16 or more passengers including the driver or hazardous material.

5 Tire Tips For A Safer Work Truck

 Work Truck Tires

Tires withstand severe environments throughout their life on a work truck. Holding up to heavy loads and traveling on a multitude of surfaces are common for work truck tires. Most of us give the tires on our work truck little thought until they are in need of replacement. While this strategy may have worked for you in the past, neglecting to regularly check the condition of your tires will eventually catch up to you and leave you stranded on the side of the road. If your truck is down, your work is down. Utilize these tips to keep your work truck off the shoulder.

1. Tread Depth

Check tread depth often utilizing the penny test (a minimum of 2/32” of tread left on the tire). Most make the mistake of checking one spot on each tire, to ensure even wear check at least three spots on each tire.
2. Tire Pressure

Keep a tire pressure gauge in each work truck and check the pressure regularly. Keep the tire pressure within the vehicle’s recommended PSI range.
3. Cracks, Checks & More

Check for cracks, punctures, tears, bulges, bumps or tread separation. If you come across any exposed strands of metal or fabric, take the truck out of the field and have the tire(s) replaced as soon as possible.
4. Alignment

Keep proper alignment of your work truck tires. If they are improperly aligned it will result in premature wear and tear on the tires.
5. Overloading

Don’t overload! Your work truck (and tires) are only rated to handle so much weight. Overloading can create a recipe for disaster on not just your tires but your entire vehicle.

Detroit Auto Show Trades Winter for Summer

http://cars.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451b3c669e2022ad35dd088200c-pi

The North American International Auto Show is moving, although not from its physical location in downtown Detroit. Rather, it's moving down the calendar by five months.

While the 2019 NAIAS — also known as the Detroit auto show — will happen in January, the 2020 show will forgo winter and set up shop in and around the Cobo Center in June.

The move will allow one of the country's premiere auto shows to highlight Detroit's downtown assets and present an auto show that resembles an indoor/outdoor festival and dream car cruise. The Detroit Auto Dealers Association, the show organizer, said opportunities for consumer engagement will be endless. Exhibitors will be able to give media members and showgoers the opportunity to actually drive new cars, trucks, SUVs and crossovers in newly designed interactive vehicle displays. Ride and drives, autonomous/automated driving, off-road challenges and more are all on the table.

The 2019 show and schedule will be similar to years past, with Jan. 14-15 being press preview days and the public show running Jan 19-27. The show will then take 17 months off to prepare for the all-new 2020 show. The Detroit auto show has seen a declining number of automakers participating due to timing, cost and audience turnout. Time will tell whether this reinvention will attract the big auto debuts that once were a hallmark of the show before it had to compete with the November Los Angeles Auto Show and the January Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Masterack’s new rear-seat packages recently designed for the Nissan Titan King Cab with rear-seat delete allow convenient storage inside the truck cab. The packages add more organization and ease of access to tools and equipment.

Nissan has rounded out its pickup lineup with the introduction of a King Cab for its Titan and Titan XD—a configuration that features a commercial application friendly rear seat delete option.
The rear seat delete—a first for its segment—removes the rear seat, rear heater duct and rear roof-mounted assist grips and adds a flat rear load floor and rear wall finisher with tie-down hooks for secure in-cab storage space.

“This feature is going to be extremely well received by commercial truck buyers for its extra utility and secure, climate-safe storage space inside the cab. 2018 Nissan TITAN XD

2018 Nissan TITAN XD offers heavy-duty attitude with choice of Crew Cab, King Cab or Single Cab body configurations, two powerful engines

Now in its third year, the 2018 TITAN XD continues to stake out unique territory with a lineup that includes Crew Cab, King Cab and Single Cab body styles, two bed lengths, choice of a powerful Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel or Nissan 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 engines, 4x4 or 4x2 drivelines and up to five well-equipped grade levels

  •     Nissan's flagship TITAN XD full-size pickup features range of models built with commercial strength components
  •     Combines many capabilities of a heavy-duty hauler with the drivability and affordability of a light-duty pickup
  •     TITAN's legendary innovation leadership includes cutting-edge towing, utility and driving aids
  •     New Midnight Edition Package available with TITAN XD Crew Cab Diesel SV and SL 4x4 for 2018

When it was first introduced in 2016, the Nissan TITAN XD shook up the highly competitive full-size pickup segment in the United States and Canada with a bold design and capabilities that staked out a unique position in the segment between traditional heavy-duty and light-duty entries. TITAN XD offers some of the effortless towing and hauling of the larger, more expensive heavy-duty trucks – including an available maximum towing capacity of 12,310 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 2,080 pounds (when properly equipped) – yet with fuel-efficiency and affordability closer to a half-ton pickup.

Now in its third year, the 2018 TITAN XD continues to stake out unique territory with a lineup that includes Crew Cab, King Cab and Single Cab body styles, two bed lengths, choice of a powerful Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel or Nissan 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 engines, 4x4 or 4x2 drivelines and up to five well-equipped grade levels.

For 2018, TITAN XD adds a new Midnight Edition Package available on Diesel Crew Cab SV and SL grade 4x4 models, providing a custom look straight from the factory. The TITAN Midnight Edition Package includes body color front grille with dark insert, dark headlamps, black fog lamp finisher, black exterior badging, black mirrors, black door handles, 20-inch black wheels, body color front and rear bumpers, black step rains, black interior trim and "Midnight Edition" exterior badge.

Every 2018 TITAN XD is covered by America's Best Truck Warranty1, featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles, whichever comes first.

Built from the Work Job Up with Commercial Strength
Nissan TITAN XD starts with a focus on commercial strength components – from the radiator to the rear axle and everything in between. Every TITAN XD model is built on a unique frame and chassis (compared to the TITAN half-ton) to handle the Cummins diesel and Endurance® V8 gas engines, as well as the truck's expanded towing and payload potential.

Utilizing a durable, proven chassis design from Nissan Commercial Vehicles, the fully boxed, full-length ladder frame is extensively reinforced and strengthened for use with the TITAN XD with added stiffness, vertical and lateral bending, and torsional rigidity. It also features an extended 151.6-inch wheelbase – about 20 inches longer than TITAN half-ton models.

To maximize stability, handling and ride comfort, TITAN XD uses a heavy-duty, highly stable suspension design. The double-wishbone with stabilizer bar front suspension is reinforced and tuned for hard use, and the rigid rear axle suspension utilizes hefty leaf springs and leaf bushings, along with twin-tube shock absorbers. The axle is a large purpose-built American Axle Manufacturing design. The rear differential measures 9.84 inches with 3.5-inch axle tubes, while the front differential (4x4 models) measures 9.25 inches. Both are manufactured by American Axle. Also available is an Electronic Locking Rear Differential.

Hydraulic cab-mounts help isolate occupants from the advanced TITAN XD chassis. The TITAN XD rides on 17-inch, 18-inch or 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with LT245/75R17, LT275/65R18 or LT265/60R20 tires for strong all-weather/all surface traction.

Braking is provided by a 4-wheel disc system with 14.2 x 1.5-inch front/14.4 x 1.2-inch rear ventilated discs front and rear with hydraulic power assist. The high brake fluid pressure generated by an electric pump assists brake pedal force for a confident feel.

Responsive steering is provided by a recirculating ball-type high-capacity steering system with parallel rod steering linkage to optimize steering effort characteristics, even under heavy axle weight and towing conditions.

Even the radiator's heat radiation cooling capacity is engineered to help enhance performance and meet SAE J2807 compliance. TITAN XD engine capacity meets 12,000-plus pound tow requirements through use of the large radiator, air transmission cooler and large 23.6-inch engine cooling fan diameter.

Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel – Power, Durability and MPG
Creating a new class of truck also meant developing a new class of engine. Like the TITAN XD itself, the Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel fills the space between more expensive big bore diesels and less capable smaller displacement diesels. And more than just power and torque, the engine is refined, starts fast and is responsive and quiet. It is also lightweight and offers clean emissions.

The TITAN XD's Cummins diesel features the Cummins M2 two-stage turbo system, which helps reduce traditional turbo-lag through precision balancing between high-pressure and low-pressure turbos. The patented Rotary Turbine Control provides solid performance across the powerband and manages exhaust gas temperatures.

The engine also includes a Bosch® HPCR fuel system to deliver precise fuel control and multiple injections per combustion stroke, which helps increase efficiency and reduce traditional "diesel clatter." And, the advanced, maintenance-free Bosch® ceramic glow plugs provide quick engine starts, even in extreme low temperatures.

Another key advantage of the Cummins diesel design is that it provides maximum durability and power in a lightweight package. Weight was reduced by building the cylinder block out of compacted graphite iron (CGI), which is stronger and lighter than traditional iron. Other lightweight engine components were added, including high-strength aluminum-alloy heads and composite valve covers. The CGI block, along with the dual overhead camshafts, also contributes to the engine's excellent noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics.

The Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel exhaust system has a particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction that enable the engine to run cleaner. That technology also serves a second purpose – reducing typical diesel noise. As a result of all these advanced systems, the Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel is more capable than small displacement diesel engine offerings and less expensive than big bore heavy-duty diesels.

It is also designed to be fun to drive, with about 45 percent more torque at cruising speed than similar-sized gasoline V8 engines. And, its low revving powerband requires less downshifting and provides more confidence while towing, as well as saving fuel whether towing or carrying heavy loads.

Helping handle the power and torque of the engine is a heavy-duty 6-speed Aisin A466ND automatic transmission developed and tuned exclusively for the TITAN XD.

Nissan 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 – 390 HP, DIGTM Technology
Nissan's advanced 5.6-liter Endurance V8 engine, which is also available on the TITAN half-ton, is cast, forged and assembled at Nissan's Powertrain Assembly Plant in Decherd, Tennessee. The engine features four-valves per cylinder, Variable Valve Event & Lift and Direct Injection, and is rated at 390 horsepower @ 5,800 rpm and 394 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The 5.6-liter Endurance V8 is backed by a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The engine includes Nissan's advanced VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology, which combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake and exhaust sides to provide high performance and crisp response. The engine also features Direct Injection Gas (DIG™) technology, which provides better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system) by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offering precise injection control. An 11.2:1 compression ratio is provided by a new piston design, aiding overall engine efficiency and performance (previous Titan: 9.8:1) and a Multi Control Valve (MCV) assists in managing the engine's thermal efficiency better than a traditional thermostat.

In addition, Nissan TITAN XD 4x4 models feature a new transfer case designed to ensure maximum power distribution in every gear. It distributes torque to both ends and provides four-wheel drive when added traction is needed on snow, ice, sand, mud, muck, dirt, water, gravel – whatever the job site presents.

Durable off-road performance has also been emphasized, with features such as Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist and Brake Limited-Slip Differential (BLSD). An off-road gauge uses accelerometer data to calculate the vehicle's pitch and roll angles.

Towing and Hauling – Informed and In Control
TITAN XD models equipped with the 5.0L Cummins diesel have a maximum payload of 2,420 pounds (when properly equipped) and a maximum towing rating of 12,640 pounds (when properly equipped).

Equipped with the 5.6L Endurance gasoline V8, maximum payload is rated at 2,910 pounds (when properly equipped) and a maximum towing rating of 11,590 pounds (when properly equipped).

Among the list of TITAN XD's available towing aids are an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system that allows one-person hook-up operation – checking turn signals, brake lights and running/clearance lights from inside the TITAN cab or with the key fob.

Also assisting trailer hook-ups is the TITAN XD's available RearView Monitor with Trailer Guides, while the available Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM)2 provides a composite "bird's eye" view of the surrounding area from front, rear and side cameras to help with parking and pulling in and out of tight spaces. The system also includes Moving Object Detection (MOD), which helps alert the driver to detected moving objects around the vehicle via an on-screen notification and warning chime.

Helping TITAN XD owners take advantage of its ample towing power are a range of available hitches – including an integrated gooseneck hitch engineered into the frame and easily accessible in the bed. Gooseneck hitches put the load in front of the rear axle, enhancing the ability to control the vehicle. The 2018 Nissan TITAN XD meets the J2807 certification's standards.

TITAN XD also includes a range of available advanced driving aids, including Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Front and Rear Sonar System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Smart Design, Smart Utility
The 2018 Nissan TITAN XD is offered in three body configurations. TITAN XD Crew Cab features four wide-opening doors and a 6.5-foot bed. TITAN XD King Cab includes with 172-degree wide-opening rear doors for easy access to the rear seat, while the TITAN XD Single Cab offers two doors and an 8.0-foot bed.

Inspired by a theme of "powerful precision tool," the TITAN XD exterior provides a bold, commanding presence with a fresh, modern technical feel. The designers sought to give TITAN a feeling of athletic strength – a look that honors the power of the Cummins diesel and Endurance V8 engines.

The profile of the TITAN XD, with its extended front overhang, was actually influenced by the engine, to incorporate the high performance grille, charged air cooler and two-battery installation. Aerodynamics also played a role in the exterior design, which is improved from the previous Titan and incorporates a front spoiler, roof and tailgate spoilers, front tow hook hole cover, underbody covers, rear tire wind deflectors and a seal between the cab and bed. Available exterior features include LED headlights and taillights, signature Daytime Running Lights, puddle lamps, and step rails for cabin and bed entry/exit.

TITAN's industry-first Utili-track® Bed Channel System features four heavy-duty aluminum alloy cleats that move and lock anywhere along the walls, bed floor and header tracks that give the user endless tie-down possibilities.

TITAN XD also features available dual lockable in-bed "TITAN Box" storage boxes that sit sight-unseen at street level and can hold a wide range of essential work and recreational equipment. Unlike other pickup bed storage boxes, the TITAN XD units are accessible from inside the bed without having to remove a camper top or tonneau cover. The boxes are watertight (and drainable) and can be used as a cooler for picnics or tailgating. They are also easily removable for times when extra bed capacity is required.

Other TITAN XD bed features include the popular spray-on bedliner, flush-mounted LED bedrail lighting, cargo and tailgate lamps, 110-volt in-bed access and a damped tailgate that is light to lift and smoothly damped when lowering.

A Big Cabin with a Bold and Commanding Presence
Trucks today are multi-functional, used as work and everyday vehicles – so the interior has to be multi-functional as well. The designers focused on enhanced utility and on making the interior easy to use through an improved layout of switches, driver controls and storage spaces. The 2nd row underseat storage, for example, includes a locking lid for added security and the integrated foldout flat floor. The center console can hold a computer tablet with case or a 15-inch laptop.

All switches are grouped by function type and location is based on frequency of use. Other convenient interior design features include seven assist grips, console-side map pockets, 12-volt and 110-volt power outlets (in addition to the bed), Remote Engine Start3 with climate control function, and Rockford Fosgate premium 12-speaker audio system. The special attention to detail even includes moving the glove compartment handle to the left hand side for easier access by the driver.

The TITAN XD also features a tilt and telescoping steering column with a standard column-mounted transmission shifter lever – a move that helps increase the visibility and usability of the center stack area. This also opened up the center console for additional storage, allowing riders to fit a laptop in the center console without giving up rear cupholders and 2nd row climate control vents.

The premium grade instrument panel includes a combination of analog and digital gauges, along with a 5.0-inch color display, unique diesel monitoring and maintenance displays, and available NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Mobile Apps and NissanConnect Services with 7.0-inch color monitor (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately).

As in other Nissan vehicles, TITAN XD offers seating inspired by NASA. The standard front and rear Zero Gravity seats help maximize posture positioning for enhanced comfort during long distance driving. Heating and cooling front sears are also available, along with a choice of water-repellant fabric or durable leather-appointments. Heated front and rear seats are available in both cloth and leather trim levels.

Special attention was also paid to reducing the intrusion of noise and vibration into the cabin. TITAN XD utilizes laminated front and rear (Crew Cab) side glass, the first full-size pickup to do so. Engine noise isolation and body sealing was also improved versus the previous generation TITAN design.
